Unfortunately I accidently typed out my old E-mail address from which I can't recieve any messages at all, oops! The address should have been tokaruk.t@sasktel.net. If you've sent me an email and you didn't get a reply, please resend it to this address.

Yes, Dustdevil and I are still pounding away at this project, unfortunately we have hit a rather large snag - recently I've been working on several new models, but we have no one with the necessary skills to create textures for them! Doing the skins ourselves would not result in a pretty sight and would undoubtably make the development of Ravenhurst much longer than it should be.

Therefore I'm asking anyone who might be interested or knows someone else who may be interested and has the talent to create great textures to contact me at "tokaruk.t@sasktel.net" for more information. Examples of previous work and experience is also a great plus.

Help us get this thing done someday, sooner!

But not really. Unfortunately I've been way too busy with university related stuff to anything substantial with Ravenhurst and with Finals coming up it's looking like I won't be able to for quite bit longer. To make matters worse my wrist is either suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome or a sprain from work, so I'm going to have to give it some healing time.

What I have been able to do so far is make about 6 maps to their near final playable state, which means they have items, secrets, monsters and well, more monsters. However I've come to a point where I need to do more mapping to flesh out areas between existing levels. There isn't anywhere near enough stuff for any kind of release yet, so it'll still be awhile unfortunately.

You may have noticed I've removed a few sections from the site, namely the 'Progress' and 'Features' Sections. I did this because I hardly ever updated them and I'd rather get more work done on the actual project than do web updates, which is probably why this site hardly gets updated...

Also, I forgot to update my email on the team page for quite a while, so those of you who may or may not have emailed me in the past and I didn't respond should take note that my main email address is currently 'tokaruk.t@sasktel.net'. 't.tokaruk@shaw.ca' also works as well but it's a older one and might be disconnected sometime soon.

By and by, I finally caved in and bought Ninja Gaiden, which of course meant I had to get a XBox as well. Let me tell you, the jokes made about this system are nothing to sneeze at, this thing dwarfs my Gamecube in both size and weight. At least I don't have it placed some place where it could fall and hit my head, foot or other vital limb.

Ninja Gaiden is in one word: "Awesome". in two words it might be: "Awesome Goodness", in three...well you get the picture. I've been a fan of the series since the 3rd game for the NES and to see what they accomplished with it while still staying true to the original is quite a feat. The graphics and animation are amazingly detailed, even compared to todays latest PC games. The sound and especially the music are top notch. Ryu's voice for some reason reminds me of a Dragon Ball Z character, but it does seem to fit him and he doesn't really speak all that much in the game anyways.

But the thing which really makes the game shine is the combat which puts every other similar game I've played to shame. I could could go on and on about this game but I'll just say it's is one of the most fun, challenging and at the same time rewarding games I've played in years. If you own a XBox you owe it to yourself to try it out, and even if you don't you should at least rent it for a weekend.

Just thought it's about time to update the site, since it's been way over a week since my last one. Oh well, there's not that much too report, I'm still hard at work on Ravenhurst - spare time willing. The map count right now has shot up from 27 to around a crazy 46 so I've been busy getting the first couple of maps to an actual playable state with monsters and everything. So far it's been going pretty good, there's a indescribable feeling to seeing all the work you put into a map come together at the end. Right now I'm designing the maps to be hard to beat, but not impossible of course. I will probably include a easier skill level but anymore than two separate skill levels will slow my progress down way too much. (And we all know I don't need any more time to finish this eh?)

On another note Kenn Hoekstra has announced on his site: Kenn's World That he'll be resigning from Raven effective June 30th to pursue other interests. I myself am a bit saddened by this since he's worked on a lot of kick-ass titles over at Raven but I'm sure Kenn will make a mark wherever he goes, and that we'll be seeing him back in the gaming industry in the future. Thanks for the great games and have a cool one on us Kenn!

-An Update?! Woah...

Hrmm, well I know I should really be updating this page a lot more than I have lately, 5 months between updates just isn't right. So from now on I'm going to try to update it at least once a week, even if all I do is blather on about non-Ravenhurst stuff.

And concerning Ravenhurst, now that I've been able to secure myself my own computer I've been able to get a great deal of work done on it, although a great deal still needs to be done. So far there are 27 maps done or nearing completion, to be able to have a release I'll need to have at least 3 more done to flesh out the rest of the world, although 5 may be a more accurate number as the engine restrictions really put a hamper on the size of the levels I tend to make. Then it will be on to the enemy placement and other story and gameplay related stuff, while being as important if not more than the design of the levels themselves they will most likely be a lot easier to implement and not take quite as much time.

Unfortunately a few of the last days have been lost playing the excellent game Halo on the PC, if you're into great single-player games with a very interesting story woven into it then I strongly recommend you getting your mitts on this title. The multiplayer is no slouch either. Although it's been out on the X-Box for quite awhile I waited for the port to the PC and boy was it worth it. Gearbox did an excellent job bringing it over to, in my opinion, the system it should have debuted on in the first place.

If you're looking for a bit more on the story in the game, the book "Halo-The Fall of Reach" is a great prelude to the first game as it goes through just who the Master Chief is, the Humans' fight against the Covenant and more right up until the start of the game, so it's a nice appetizer for the real thing. The other novel: "Halo-The Flood" pretty much covers what happens in the game and is not nearly as interesting as the first, although it does offer some new details that weren't in the game. Just don't read it if you plan on playing the game as it will pretty much ruin everything for you.

Here's to hoping they port Halo 2 to the PC, even if it is another long wait. ;-).

Well that's enough rambling for now. Till then see you later...

Well at least it is here finally in good ol' Canada, where we can now leave our igloos without our snowshoes for two whole months, Woot!

One thing that's definitively new around here is that we now have a new address, courtesy of Phoebus. The new URL for the site is: 'ravenhurst.raven-games.com'. The old site will automatically forward you to the new one now as well.

As you've already probably noticed I've done a little spring cleaning of the site, I've tweaked a few of the graphics and pretty much all of the other pages have been updated somewhat, although a few of them still need quite a bit of work.

We're still quite busy on Ravenhurst, although I've been bothered quite a bit with other things as well-like job searching and a nasty cough that just doesn't seem to want to go away.
